Staffing Update

Alinta Energy Gippsland League has expanded it’s off-field operations for season 2023 with the introduction of three new roles. The League will introduce a second full time role to the existing structure with Brandon Milburn appointed as the new League Operations Manager.

Brandon comes to the Gippsland League tertiary qualified in Sports Management and has been working over the past few years at AFL Gippsland as the League Manager for the West Gippsland FNC. He has also played a key hand in delivering several football programs in the region including the AFL Gippsland All Stars academy, Junior Interleague and Gippsland’s V/Line Cup teams. The League is delighted to have Brandon playing a key off field role in the growth and development of the competition. The League Operations Manager role will take on the competition operational requirements for the League and aims to provide greater support to our volunteer administrators and help continue to drive the promotion of the League as the ’Premier Sporting Competition in Gippsland’.

The League has also created two new roles in football and netball operations tasked specifically with assisting the League’s umpiring requirements. Former AFL Umpire and EFNL Head of Umpiring Peter Carey will take on a role assisting the Alinta Energy Gippsland League with the operational requirements for football umpiring. Peter will also play an active role in the tribunal structure for season 2023. We are excited to have Peter onboard and look forward to utilising his experience and skills with the Gippsland League and the member clubs. The League is also in the final stages of appointing a netball umpire role that will play a key role in developing the member club umpires and delivering a netball umpire program with the League. An announcement on the successful candidate is expected in the early new year.

These three new roles will join current General Manager Daniel Heathcote and Netball Coordinator Carlie Dwyer who have both extended their agreements with the League. Daniel will be entering his 8th season overseeing the business operations of the Gippsland League and will continue to lead the off field team. Carlie has been in various roles with the League for over a decade and will be expanding her current Netball Operations Coordinator role in 2023 to help deliver some key programs.

It is another positive step forward for the League in line with the recently implemented strategic plan. Off the back of a successful return to competition in 2022, the League is excited to be able to invest in developing a number of key areas including umpiring to assist the member clubs and their volunteers in the future.
