Plenty of netballers hit the court across the Anzac Day weekend, as all three leagues took part in important commemorations.
A total of six matches were played on Anzac Day itself, with the remaining fixtures completed on Sunday in a full round of action.
Gippsland League rivals Moe and Traralgon headlined the weekend, clashing under lights at the redeveloped Traralgon Recreation Reserve on Saturday night.
The experienced Lions executed when it mattered most, securing a strong 56–45 away victory. Moe held a narrow three-goal lead at quarter time before gradually extending the margin to seven, then nine, and ultimately out to 11 by the final siren.
Emma McMillan led the charge in attack with 36 goals, while Emma White (21) and Lara Noblett (17) also proved dangerous in front of goal.
Alex Moody, Jordan Pyle and McMillan were among Moe’s best performers.
For Traralgon, Marley Wallace, Emma White and Montanna Styles were noted for their efforts.
At Morwell Recreation Reserve, the Tigers were outplayed by 14 goals, going down 49–35 as Bairnsdale continued its strong start to the season with three consecutive wins.
Morwell was competitive early, but a decisive second quarter proved costly, conceding 14 goals to five to trail by double digits at the main break. From there, the Redlegs maintained control to secure the result.
Anna Mooney was dominant in attack with 35 goals, well supported by Chloe Felsbourg with 14.
Paris Dunkley earned best-on-court honours, with Jordan O’Connor and Mooney also influential.
For Morwell, Anna Solomon, Chloe Radford and Izabella Rosato were among the better performers.
Elsewhere, Drouin proved too strong for Wonthaggi, 78–51, while Leongatha accounted for Maffra 61–42.
Sale secured its first win of the season in a thriller, edging out Warragul 39–37 at Western Park.
