THE final string of Gippsland League's split rounds had an intra-Latrobe Valley showdown.
Moe took on Morwell at Morwell Recreation Reserve, with the Lions victorious, 70 to 30.
After losing its first game of the season to Drouin the week before, the visiting side buckled down defensively, winning every quarter, including scoring north of 20 goals in each of the middle terms to lead by 36.
Moe finished with a 19-6 final quarter to finish at its best.
Emma McMillan dominated with 52 goals, and was supported by Lions junior netballer Alexa Doherty with 17 and Caitlin Demczuk with 10.
Playing coach Alex Moody and Olivia Barnett also played well for Moe.
Isabella Bettridge with 16 goals, Chloe Radford and Edie van der Velden held their head up with strong performances for Morwell.
The result moves the Tigers to second-bottom of the ladder, only in front of Warragul, meaning two of the top three sides from last year are holding up the rest of the competition.
Other games saw Leongatha defeat Sale 55-44 at Leongatha Recreation Reserve, while Drouin was made to work for the points against Bairnsdale, 54-46 at Bairnsdale City Oval.
Round 7 of the Gippsland League returns to a full fixture this weekend, with Moe facing Bairnsdale at Northern Reserve, Newborough, and Traralgon facing Maffra at home.
On Sunday, Morwell face top-seeded Drouin at Drouin Recreation Reserve.
