PLAYERS TO WATCH
TOM MARRIOTT
Mounting a case for the greatest ever Gippsland League player. Eight Grand Finals, two time League Best and Fairest, League MVP, two time Grand Final best on ground and seeking his fifth senior football premiership medallion today. Enough said about the champion Leongatha midfielder.
CADE MASKELL
The evergreen defender continues to be one of the dominant players in the competition. Racks up disposals and is one of the best kicks in the competition. Has an honor sheet to rival any Gippsland League player, chasing his fifth premiership medal and a third Grand Final best on ground medal.
TALLIN BRILL
A game breaker and one of the under rated Parrots that could have a big influence on the result. The half forward can light up the game with his uncanny goal kicking ability. Has worked himself into one of the best half forward is in the competition making the team of the year squad again after kicking 21 goals across his 14 games this year.

PLAYERS TO WATCH
TYE HOURIGAN
Has a case to be named the best player in the competition among a highly talented group. How this man is not on an AFL list is still staggering while watching him dominate across half back. If the Maroons win he will be short odds for the medal.
CHANCE DOULTREE
Doultree has added class with the football since returning to the Maroons. A smooth mover and excellent kick. He was one of the best in the Preliminary Final win and will need to put in a big performance on Grand Final day.
LUIS D'ANGELO
A break out year had D’Angelo gain his first team of the year honours in the Gippsland League. The Maroons most consistent ball winner throughout the season has come along quickly since being involved in the Box Hill VFL system. Will be one of the Maroons main men in the middle today.

Notes : Since 1969 when Leongatha joined the LVFL they, and today’s opponent Traralgon have contested eight Senior Grand Finals. Leongatha has won three and Traralgon five of these eight classic matches. Their most recent Grand Final match was 2015 when the Parrots had won both home and away clashes, yet they went down to the Maroons twice in the finals, including the one that counted the most. In recent years Leongatha has held sway over Traralgon, the Parrots winning the last ten games that they have played against them. That said, four of those ten wins have been by single figure margins, including Leongatha’s five point win at home in Round 1 this year. The way that the Final Five system is structured, top teams winning their Second Semi-Final run the risk of going into the Grand Final “cold” as they have had a few Saturdays off on their way to the Big Dance. With this year’s bye after Round 16 what it means for the Parrots is that, since their Round 16 match, they will have played just three matches in seven weeks come Grand Final day. Traralgon, with five games in that same time period, will be battle hardened and running with the momentum of the past fortnight. A huge crowd will be in attendance today and will be thoroughly entertained by a match played at the highest standard, with a heart-stopping finish very possible.
