In the late 70s Maffra netballers played on a single mowed grass court and we only had one ladies team competing. A single asphalt court was built in the 80s and the second court came in the 90s. As the standard of the netball grew it became obvious that our asphalt courts were no longer of a suitable level to be hosting major league netball. Whenever hosting rights for finals were discussed Maffra were always at a disadvantage as competing clubs were critical of our netball facilities.

Approximately 5 years ago preliminary discussions were held with Netball Victoria and the Wellington Council in regards to a netball court upgrade and today courts are the culmination of years of effort hard work, and fundraising. 

Maffra Football Netball Club now fields 6 teams compromised of juniors and seniors in the premier competition in Gippsland League. Since the court upgrade took place we also have Net Set Go aimed at 6-8 years old’s with nearly 60 participants each Friday evening sharing these great facilities, the future of Maffra Netball.
